FRESHINDEX NEWS

LET’S TALK ABOUT: DIGITALIZATION IN THE AGRIFOOD VALUE CHAIN

As proudly announced in our last Newsletter (see Newsletter 08/18), we strongly belief in a co-creative approach as well as a frequent and transparent communication with our stakeholders. So far, we have talked to experts from all parts of the agrifood value chain in order to deepen our understanding of current challenges in the context of food distribution and, thus, adjust our FreshIndex to the requirements of the market.

In a next step, we now invite everyone who is interested to help us co-create the future of digital food information using innovation methods like design thinking and lean startup. During a 1-Day-Workshop, we will explore good and bad practices, existing needs and potential solutions in order to create innovative ideas and use-cases for the FreshIndex technology. The workshop will take place on September 25th 2018 and is free of charge for all participants. Use this great opportunity to network and share your point view!

CRYPTOTEC: REALTIME MONITORING OF ORGAN TRANSPORTATION

The need for realtime information on temperature, location and transport data not only concerns the agrifood sector but also other fields such as medicine. As a vast number of patients relies on the quality of medical treatments, the continuous monitoring of organ or blood donations or the secure transfer of patient information between the involved parties is crucial for the persons concerned.

Using the blockchain technology, Crypotec aims to change the healthcare sector from the ground up, with the patient being in the focus. The newly developed model for the exchange of health information ensures that medical documents or products are provided only to legitimate recipients with all data being encrypted and stored digitally.

FRESHINDEX BEHIND THE SCENES

MEET THE PROJECT PARTNERS: Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, H-BRS

As one out of six project partners, H-BRS is responsible for the analysis of requirements set by potential users of the FreshIndex. Therefore, the team surrounding Prof. Dr. Gunnar Stevens analyses all facets of the food supply chain, ranging from the manufacturer to the end consumer and to other relevant stakeholders while the potential user is always at the centre of their research.

By now, several interviews and onsite observations on site were conducted. The resulting personas and sketch usage scenarios will serve as a basis for the upcoming Design Thinking Workshop. This preparatory work shall ensure the user-centricity – and ultimately: optimize the user-experience and usability – of the FreshIndex.

MEET THE FACES BEHIND: Stephanie Vonhodt, H-BRS

Stephanie works as a research associate at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg where she explores distinct consumer practices within the field of nutrition.

In the FreshIndex project she is responsible for the analyses of needs and requirements from side of potential users.

Stephanie has several years of professional experience in personnel strategy and personnel development. Also, her Master thesis on “Changing the use of time through autonomous driving – Co-design study on user preferences” – received the Equal Opportunity Commissioner Award for the best master’s thesis of a graduate 2017.
